Graph paper is a writing paper that comes with fine lines to form regular grid. These lines are universally useful for a variety of subjects, like plotting math functions or drawing two-dimensional graph with accurate precision. Or, as a draft before drawing it in a computer.
Before the emergence of computer era, these are very useful tools for mathematician and many scientists. They can find it in a book store easily as loose leaf or bound in notebooks. They can select from variety of grid size, from millimeter until inches.
Nowadays, printed sheets slowly take those bookstore benefits. People or students can find their targeted grid paper easily and print it without having to go outside their house or classes.
Graph paper templates you can use below are created using table functions with Letter size in Microsoft Word. Some are created using Microsoft Excel due to limitation of table function features in Microsoft Word. Some are also available in PDF format since the original graph is in image.
Graph Paper Format
Graph paper formats are vary. They are available for particular purposes.
Quad Graph Paper
It is a small square paper. This is the common and the original grid paper. It has a sparse grid printed in light blue or gray throughout the paper. It has 2, 4 and 5 squares per inch. Inch is a common measurement unit in US/Canada. In other part of the world, you can find quad graph paper in centimeter as its measurement unit.
Engineering Graph Paper
It has similar format with quad graph paper, except it has light green color. And, it is printed as the back side. Engineering students use the white front side to write or draw their tasks.
Millimeter Graph Paper
Technical drawing needs up to millimeter scales. This millimeter (10 square units per centimeter) is the most suitable graph paper for this purpose.
Hexagonal Graph Paper
People can use this paper to map geometric tiled or tesselated designs among other uses.
Isometric/3D Graph Paper
The name suggests the use for isometric views or pseudo-three-dimensional views. Among other functions, people can use it in the design of triangle point embroidery since they can use it to draw angles accurately.
Triangular Graph Paper
This is a specific graph paper where it usually used to graph the relationships between three variables on an equilateral triangle.
Logarithmic Graph Paper
Plotting values from logarithmic calculation are difficult in square size graph paper since it has varying values which correspond to varying width size. Having specific logarithmic graph paper will surely help any students who plan to map it correctly.
Normal Probability Paper
It is another graph paper with rectangles of variable widths. People can use it to plot normal probability values in straight line.
Polar Coordinate Paper
It has concentric circles divided into small arcs or ‘pie wedges’ to allow plotting in polar coordinates. It is also called Cartesian graphs because the square can be used to map measurements onto a Cartesian (xy) coordinate system. Other models for this format are dot graph papers where any students can draw axis in custom.
How to Use Graph Paper Templates
Grid paper is other name of graph paper. In the beginning, only a square size with variety size are available in the market for any purposes. Then, many people need more models for particular purposes where the term of graph paper is more universal to reflect other models as above.
These graph paper templates are ready to be printed. You don’t have to do anything except printing it anytime you want. Select the most suitable model for your project and print it. You may customize some models that are available in Word or Excel format. When you modify it, make sure that you are working in printing size view, either in letter or A4 views. Some models are also available in landscape orientation. If you need bigger paper size, you need to copy and paste all grids first. Do not shrink or extend it from print option directly since it will change their width size. It will give you incorrect grid width size.
